CHARACTERIZATION OF PYROLITIC BIOFUEL PREPARED FROM BIOMASS OF CEIBA PENTANDRA AND MELICIA EXCELSA

Abstract

This study focuses on the characterization of pyrolytic biofuel derived from the biomass of Ceiba pentandra and Melicia excelsa. Pyrolysis, a thermochemical conversion process, was employed to convert these biomass sources into biofuel, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. The biomass was subjected to pyrolysis at varying temperatures and conditions to optimize the yield and quality of the biofuel produced.

The resulting biofuels were analyzed for their physicochemical properties, including calorific value, viscosity, density, and chemical composition using techniques such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The findings revealed that the biofuels from Ceiba pentandra and Melicia excelsa possess high calorific values and favorable fuel properties, making them suitable candidates for renewable energy applications.

Additionally, the study examined the influence of pyrolysis temperature and biomass composition on the yield and characteristics of the biofuel. The optimal pyrolysis conditions for maximum biofuel yield and quality were identified, providing valuable insights into the efficient conversion of biomass to biofuel. The environmental impact and sustainability of using Ceiba pentandra and Melicia excelsa as biomass sources for biofuel production were also assessed.

This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on renewable energy sources and highlights the potential of Ceiba pentandra and Melicia excelsa biomass as viable feedstocks for biofuel production. The findings underscore the importance of optimizing pyrolysis conditions to enhance biofuel yield and quality, paving the way for more sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
