PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES AND CRIME PREVENTION IN NIGERIA: CHALLENGES AND REGULATIONS
Abstract
Private security companies play a vital role in crime prevention in Nigeria. The industry has infused all aspects of life and increasingly supplementing the role of the government in crime prevention. Despite all these, private security companies are faced with many challenges which might have arisen as a result of poor regulations. Using qualitative discourse, based on secondary data, this paper examines challenges faced by the private security companies, regulations and suggest way forward.
