BLOCKCHAIN-BASED APPROACH TO ENHANCE DATA PRIVACY IN E-GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS
Abstract
The increasing digitization of government services has raised critical concerns about data privacy, security, and trust in e-governance systems. This study proposes a blockchain-based approach to enhance data privacy, transparency, and accountability in e-governance platforms. The model leverages decentralized ledger technology to ensure secure data storage, immutability of records, and verifiable user access without reliance on a central authority. Smart contracts are integrated to automate service delivery while maintaining confidentiality through cryptographic protocols. The proposed system was designed and evaluated using simulated e-governance datasets, demonstrating improved data integrity, resistance to tampering, and privacy preservation compared to traditional centralized architectures. The study concludes that blockchain technology offers a viable framework for establishing citizen trust and regulatory compliance in digital governance environments.
